Angela & Nathan Hickson, Proprietors

Angela Hickson first brought her love of fine food to downtown Shelton in 1997, opening the original Steven’s.
Taking advantage of a unique and ornately detailed location, Angela set about creating a dining “experience” that combined an original and inspiring menu with the area’s most memorable setting and service.
Today, Angela and Nathan continually expand their vision of what it means to create a quality dining experience. The Hickson’s vision of a tasteful-yet-absolutely-casual place to meet, eat, and gather with friends has come to fruition with Steven’s on Railroad.
It is a restaurant for anyone who loves good food. "And for those who like being treated as family in our home,” says Angela with a smile. |
About Us: Steven's Historical Building
Steven’s on Railroad is located on Shelton’s Railroad Avenue, the main thoroughfare bringing visitors into the heart of Shelton’s historical downtown shopping district.
Dating to 1917, Steven’s was originally a bank building. In the days following World War I, the brick structure overlooked the “Hiring Corner,” where young hopefuls waited to be hired for the many logging crews felling timber in the forests nearby. |

The bank closed in the 1960s. The first restaurant opened at the same location in 1995. Angela Hickson opened Steven's in 1997, and in 2003, she built the Loft, adding a friendly, relaxed lounge upstairs––and giving Mason County its only authentic martini bar.
Today, Steven’s on Railroad overlooks the main post office and Tollie, the historic logging railroad engine that remains Mason County’s most recognized historical landmark.
Upstairs in the Loft you may still view the original skylight dating back to 1917.
